OVO SPI for ASAP Update ======================= This update adds the ability to repeat messages to OpenView. This feature is useful in cases where a message is accidentally acknowledged, and also helps those that sort their OpenView messages by "Received Time". Repeating messages helps keep important messages at the top of the list. *** Installation instructions for the OVO SPI for ASAP Update: 1) Download the OVOAdapter.zip file to the OpenView server. 2) Stop the ASAP OVO SPI if it is currently running, either by shutting down the ASAP Client, or by deactivating the OpenView adapter in the OEM configuration (in the OEM configuration, select the OpenView adapter, choose "Update", and set "Active" to "No"). 3) Find the current ASAP OVO SPI executable; the file is named OVOAdapter.exe, and should be located in the "\Tandem\SPI for ASAP folder" on the OpenView server. Rename the current OVOAdapter.exe file to OVOAdapter.exe.old. 4) Extract the new OVOAdapter.exe from the OVOAdapter.zip file downloaded in step 1, and copy it to the SPI for ASAP folder. 5) Restart the ASAP client or re-activate the OpenView adapter. 6) If you run into any problems with the new adapter, you can fall back to the old version simply by deleting the new OVOAdapter.exe file and renaming the old file back to OVOAdapter.exe. Once you have the new adapter installed, you can configure it in the same way as the old adapter (select the OpenView adapter in the OEM adapter list, and choose "Configure..."). You will see 3 new options on the "OVO" tab of the adapter configuration dialog: - Check the "Repeat Messages" check box to enable the message repeat option; uncheck it to disable repeating of messages. Message repeating is disabled by default. - Choose the minimum severity level for which messages should be repeated; choices are: Critical, Major, Minor, Warning, or All. For each given level, all messages of that severity or higher will be repeated. For example, if you choose Minor, messages will be repeated for all Minor, Major, and Critical events; if you choose Critical, messages will only be repeated for Critical events; etc. If you choose All, a message will be written for every monitored object, including those in an Up/Normal state. - Choose the repeat frequency, in minutes.
